How to Write an Engaging Holiday Email Your Readers Will Love

The holiday season is a wonderful time to appreciate your readers. A great way to do this is to send special holiday emails to readers.

Writing a holiday email to your readers wishing them a happy Christmas and thanking them for their support, can be a meaningful gesture.

In this article, I’ll discuss some tips to help you craft an effective and heartfelt holiday email for your readers based on the email I sent to my readers.

  1. A warm greeting: Start the email off with a festive and friendly greeting, such as “Merry Christmas!” or “Happy Holidays!”
  2. A personal message: Let your readers know that you’re grateful for their support and that you’re thinking of them during the holiday season. You could include a heartfelt message about why you write and how much your readers mean to you.
  3. An update on your work: Share any news or updates about your writing, such as the progress of your current work-in-progress or any upcoming releases. For example, I included highlights from my publishing year which included links to the books I published this year and links to interviews I participated in.
  4. A special offer: Consider offering a special deal or promotion to your readers as a way to say thank you. This could be a discount on your books, a free short story, or a giveaway. For me, I offered a free copy of my book, a free review copy of another book, a new years group promotion of free reader magnet books, and a couple of free reader magnet books from Storyorigin newsletter swaps.
  5. A holiday-themed recommendation: Share a book or other piece of media that you’ve enjoyed and think your readers might like too. You could even write a short review or explain why you enjoyed it.
  6. A holiday tradition: Share a holiday tradition that you and your family enjoy or a special memory from a past holiday season. This can help create a sense of connection with your readers.
  7. A closing message: End the email with a festive closing, such as “Wishing you a joyous holiday season!” or “Here’s to a bright and happy new year!” Be sure to include your contact information in case your readers want to get in touch.

Final Thoughts on Holiday Emails

If you haven’t considered doing it, I think it’s a great idea to send a heartfelt Christmas holiday message to your readers every year. Just another little something that goes a long way in building connections with your readers and building your readers’ expectations of your author brand.
